Israfil Mammadov has been the Executive Director (CEO) of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) since November 2019.
Mr. Mammadov began his tenure at SOFAZ in 2008 as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), overseeing investment activities. In 2013, he was appointed deputy CEO, and he also assumed the role of chairman of the investment committee at SOFAZ.
His professional journey commenced at the Department of International Economic Relations within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1995. Between 1996 and 2008, he served as the Country Manager for the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the United Kingdom (UK).
He holds a master's degree in Economics from the School of Economics at Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO).
